I "survived" my first week home alone with both the boys as Ryan returned to work Tuesday, July 29th.
It felt like the biggest Monday ever as Ryan made the rounds to each of us to say goodbye before walking out the door to the bus stop.
The day started off well. Ryan texted around 9:35 to check in on us- we had listened to music, I had put a basket of laundry away & even started another load, Arthur had peed in the potty... Arthur had pulled out every toy he owned & his room was a land mine field of breakable toys & pokey corners but THAT I had to accept & not fret over.
We ate smoothies & took a ride to the moon in the rocket.
When it was time for lunch, Chester was sleeping in the swing and I was able to get food on the table for us. But just as I sat down to eat my food, Lil Chestnut decided he wanted lunch too. I got he & I set up on the couch to nurse, where I still had a view of Arthur eating at the table.
Then I noticed the wet spot. A huge one, easily 12 inches in circumference, in the corner of the couch on the cushion. "Arthur did you have an accident on the couch?" "Uh-huh" Phooey. Well there wasn't anything to be done in that moment so I remained under my heap of nursing pillows, Chester sleeping on top like the prince & the pea. Then Arthur says "Mama I peeing!" in a frantic voice. "Stop peeing! Stop peeing! Go in to the potty!" I replied anxiously. Off he went leaving a puddle & a trail behind him. Of course his shorts & underwear are soaked at this point (seriously, where is all this pee coming from? I guess we can assume he's well hydrated) so he hollers for help. I scoop Chester & the Boppy (that's one of the 3 nursing pillows I use for y'all who are confused) up & shuffle over to the bathroom door- at which point I need two hands so I carefully prop Chester up in the U of the Boppy on the hardwoods in the hall. I peel Arthur's clothes off & set him on the potty chair. Chester wiggles off the pillow as I'm helping Arthur & is now crying lying flat on the hardwood floor. My blood pressure is quickly rising, I'm sweating & panic is setting in. I put Arthur in a nap time diaper & gather both boys, Chester still crying, & head for Arthur's bedroom.
Arthur jumps from bed to bed while pooping in his diaper, breaking our streak of using the toilet for BMs while I settled Chester with another nursing session. When I was finally able to put Chester down I realized that as he'd hopped all around his room, Arthur's diaper had leaked poop down his legs, requiring a search & rescue effort of the furniture.
Luckily I got us all down for a nap for some much needed rest. And Nina saved us by visiting that afternoon, & even kept us company until Ryan returned home.
That was day one.
On the second day, Arthur had another accident in the morning. I put him on the potty, at which point he decided he wanted to poop on the potty. I got him a book & gave him some space per our usual routine (he usually sits there for quite awhile). This is what I found when I came back to check on him:
"I want to see my poop in there" he said, shining the flashlight in the bowl, the floor covered in toilet paper.
But we got out for a walk. Progress.
That night, during his beloved "naked boy" time, he was rolling around on our bed when he started to pee. Luckily he caught himself quickly & finished on the toilet. But we had to wash the sheets before we could go to bed as we only have ONE pair for our new king. Boo.
On the third day Unky Scottrick rescued us with a visit, helping put Arthur down for a nap & hung out as A.C. slept while Mama got her hair cut & colored!

On the fourth day Arthur wore diapers & we all took a nap. I think that was it. We didn't go anywhere or do anything special. We just got through the day.
Enter... the weekend. Ahhhhhh... Dada's home again!
