Full Term: 37 Weeks! (06/29/14)

With the adjusted due date, we've reached the 37 week mark! Phew! It feels good to think that baby should keep cookin' but if something happens we've supposedly reached that "safe" point for delivery.

Arthur & I visited the doctor on Thursday. We got to hear the "baby heart beep". And they did a strep b test, test for UTI, drew blood & checked my thyroid, prescribed heparin, & answered my questions re: procedures should I go into labor early. My blood pressure looks great too! She checked & found me to be right on target with fundal height, baby has dropped, & I'm 1 cm dilated & 60% effaced! She was really pleased. And I'm happy to know that if I have to be induced, at least my body had the idea first. Next week we will schedule a date for induction- eek!

And now I start double injections, am & pm, of heparin. It lasts less time in the system so that it will hopefully have worn off by the time I give birth. It's a delicate dance between clot prevention before labor & reducing chances of excessive bleeding during & after delivery. Which is why they are talking about induction. So that there can be a plan for ending the meds, ordering blood products to be on hand, & have the team ready for this ol' wild card as I have this baby. I've kind of surrendered myself to their plan, hoping it means I'll be in safe hands, with no preconceived ideas of my own.
