This one busy week! I felt so drained by the end & so incredibly grateful Friday night when I realized we had survived.
Arthur started at PSU's Helen Gordon Child Development Center this week. It's hard to put into words how much this affected me (AND Ryan). The worry before, the tears the morning of, the anxiety during...
I had jury duty so we all rode into the city on the bus together
Ryan took him to school (it's on campus) and messaged me after to tell me how awful it was. I guess Arthur tried to go outside and when they stopped him he got mad on top of being sad & had a total meltdown as Ryan was leaving. I called about an hour after the drop off and they said it has been a rough start to the day- he cried so much he fell asleep on the floor for 5-10 minutes. This news required a great deal of power to swallow without tears. When I was relieved early at 2, I blew right over there to get him. He was playing with the trains and didn't see me for about 10 minutes. I stayed and played with him for over an hour before we left!
We rode the bus home. (This is so much fun for Arthur, riding the bus)
Arthur was a bit less cuddly with Ryan that night which made Dada feel that he was being made out to be the bad guy. So I got to drop him off Thursday morning.
He seemed happy to be at school so I said goodbye and slowly walked out...
then I heard him screaming bloody murder after I turned the corner.
Heartache.
He only went two days, as part of a staggered start, but both left me in a heap of exhaustion after hours of worry. All in all, he did well, just a little sad, but he followed routines and seemed to have fun playing with the new-to-him-toys.
Next week he begins full time.
Here's to hoping that things get easier with each day he attends and before we know it, he will be begging to go to school
