pricks, pregos, and traveling the pass

The leaves have fallen and the nights are getting cold.
I've had to defrost my car each morning this week.
That means winter is here.
And do you know what that means?
That the year is almost over!
And... that... means... baby is almost here...
whoa!

Approaching our due date means we need to stay closer to home- just in case.
So we decided to make one more trip out to Eagle Crest in central Oregon for a relaxing weekend, before we aren't able to travel the pass any more.

We had an opportunity to see baby's great-grandparents!

Margot & I spent ample time on the couch, got to go swimming in the indoor pool, and took a moment to compare our growing baby bumps.
Weird to think that the next time we make it out there, will have a little one in tow!
I can't wait to take our little babe to the place where so many great things have happened- Ryan and I's first kiss, where he proposed, and where we took our positive pregnancy test!

This is apparently what our little boo is looking like these days.
Big, blinking and upside down.

We've got to decide soon about medications... we hope to go for a natural birth but if something happens, there may be a need for anesthetics. This would conflict with my current heparin shot routine- I couldn't have any meds during labor until 20 hours have passed after my last heparin injection. The alternative would be to switch to a different type of heparin before our due date that would require TWO self-injections a day because they wear off more quickly- yuck!
Then if I continue the dreaded shots after delivery, there will be no chance that our little bean gets any of the drug through breast milk, whereas if I take the oral blood-thinner meds, the idea originally proposed, there will be a small chance of the baby ingesting some of the drug.

Regardless of the decision made, these little birds will be hatching their egg soon...
44 days and counting...
