Hot Hot Hot Wheels

I was just chuckling remembering the time Arthur put his metal Hot Wheel car in the microwave. We were staying at a hotel in Seattle. The mini bar sat right at his height and opening & closing the microwave door, putting things in & out, was very satisfying for our 22 month old. Ryan & I were in denial that it was time to wake up & were desperately attempting to catch a few more winks with the aid of cartoons on public television when the sparks & popping woke us. Oh god & the smell!

That was an interesting time. The winds were changing. It seems so much longer than a year ago.

We had just moved into our home the weekend before. We weren't even unpacked yet. Ryan had a SeaHawks game to attend so we made a weekend of it & visited Nana & Bumpa. Arthur was sick that weekend & he nursed a lot. I took a pregnancy test at that hotel & found out I was pregnant. We came home & Arthur never nursed again. It was two weeks before we found out my mom was sick.

And now here we are just over a year later & my mom checks out cancer-free & I've survived my last pregnancy, delivered a baby, & we are almost 5 months in, getting to know our beautiful little Chester. Life is good.

That car that lived up to its brand name was pretty funny, now in retrospect. My nose hairs twinge just thinking about it! Looking at my post from that time, it doesn't even mention it:

And I giggle again because our family friend Steve has JUST repaired our drawer/stove issue, in fact he's coming today to finish it up...
